I made a pair of these earrings for the amazin’ @misseswood today and I liked them so much, I made myself a pair too.

Perks of the job ey?

I worked my ass off from 7-2 today so I could go hang out in the sun/rain/hail with my lovely beau.

We drank coffee, cycled, tried on £1000 glasses at @seenopticians, walked and talked, ate a burger and now I’m home watching Ripley.

A good day, and a reminder that an afternoon off can feel like a holiday if your in the right mood.

Back to work after a lovely weekend in France visiting our artist friend @freelina_photography and seeing her first solo exhibition at the wonderful garden city in Reims.

So good to get time away to make you feel energised and give you some perspective. I bloody love my life, my creative friends, well ALL of my friends, the work I do the people I get to work with. I’m just feeling it, ya know! A morning of admin has made me realise I’ve got something lovely happening every month in the summer and I’m looking forward to sharing them all with you/ lots of public participation if you fancy coming and getting crafty- more to follow!

We are writing to you as a united cohort of Exhibiting Artists from the Manchester HOME Open Exhibition
2024. We are writing to express our deep disappointment, anger and shame in response to your decision to cancel the Voices of Resilience: A Celebration of Gazan Writing event that was due to take place on the 22nd April.
We feel this decision deeply contradicts the feelings of HOME visitors, creative workers, staff, supporters and those who felt they could trust HOME to be a voice of justice and reason. Your decision and silence could not be further from this, and results in your active complicity with the genocidal colonialism

Sliding into my Calendar of Colour month of March by the skin of my teeth!

February was neglected but the colour brown was chosen and photos assembled.

I’ll get my three months in order and share the sheets I’ve made to celebrate those colours.

March for me, could only be yellow. Those first hints of bright narcissus yellow have to be one of the most hopeful colours of the calendar year.

I was always told that yellow is the colour of insanity, whatever that means, it’s always stuck with me.

I’ll be making up a scrap sheet for March next week out of all the hues of Yellow there issss (or I have)

I saw this on the side of a bus stop last night as I was driving into Newcastle and nearly crashed the car!

At the end of last year I made some props for this ad campaign. I really enjoyed the process- Thank you @lisawestwell for the opportunity and it’s so nice seeing it come to life.

Joyful!

Yesterday, @wainman_design and I hosted the last in a series of workshops designed for @manmetrise exploring 3D printing, sustainability and materiality.

It’s so great meeting students and as always, the questions and enthusiasm for the subject matched mine and Jamie’s! Yesterday we loooked at ways to repurpose PLA, HDPE and acrylic plastic waste. Students got to use the heat press to create their own squashed art pieces and experimented with combining polymers and the properties of each material. We used silicone moulds to heat and form HDPE which is the plastic used in bottle tops and currently isn’t recycled in domestic collection. We were really thankful for all the shredded material which @relicplastic processed for us too 🥰

The @manmetrise programme seems like such a positive additional learning experience for the students. The benefits of hands on, experiential learning in artist spaces can’t be underestimated. So much of the student experience is purely digital and a hand on making session seemed to be a real hit with everyone. We want to thank the students for all their positive feedback on the sessions! Looking forward to developing more sessions and seeing where this work takes us! A good day.

Some small and beautifully formed earrings I made

Some small and beautifully formed earrings I made recently for @makeinsalford.

These pieces are all crafted from waste Perspex from the laser cutting process. As you can see each piece is completely unique and have its own texture colours and patination, it’s such a lovely process.

I’ve also got some new shreds to show you from @relicplastic. Shredding the offcuts gives that more uniform terrazzo style appearance. I’ll be creating some beautiful new colour ways with these over the next month or so ahead of some summer events I’ll be trading at.
